A: They will probably end up having some sort of deal where they wholesale the vehicles to another dealership so they can sell them.

They will not go back to GM.

Q: Chevrolet cars?
Im looking to buy my fist car and I would like to buy a chevy, but I only have 10,000 to spend, so I would have to buy used. So what is a good Chevy car that has good MPG

A: I’ve not driven a Cobalt, but I have driven a Saturn Ion. They’re the same platform and mechanically similar.

They both have electric power steering. If the Cobalt’s is anything like the Ion’s it will be VERY twitchy. It is really tough to get used to. On the plus side, it should have a very tight turn radius.

The Cobalt does have a known-reliable engine and transmission, and it looks pretty good. Other than that there isn’t much going for it.

I’d say look for any of the Epsilon and W-platform based cars. If you want to go into the 90s, look at A-bodies.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Epsilon_platform
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_W_platform

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_A_platform

Q: Could any one tell me all the Chevrolet cars in need for speed?
I want to know the names of all the Chevrolet cars in need for speed undercover. Plz help

A: 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396
2008 Chevrolet Camaro Concept
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454
1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C2) (Exclusive)
2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6)

Q: what chevrolet cars have a wheelbase of 115 inches?
I have a 56 2dr Bel air that I want to sit on an updated chassis. The original frame is in bad shape.

A: A ‘95 (and similar years) Caprice is 116″ – should be close enough.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/ViewModelDetail/make=Chevrolet/model=Caprice/?mktcat=caprice-spec&kw=caprice+specs&mktid=ga19547773

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/1995/chevrolet/caprice/specifications/

But it would be far easier (and cheaper) to use one of these:
http://www.belairclassic.com/frames.html
also look at:

http://www.buehlerenterprises.com/links.htm

Q: are chevrolet cars supposed to be good on gas?
what other cars are good on gas?

A: VW, Audi and Mercedes – since these are the main companies that import diesel cars to the USA. Diesel will always get better milage. Chev is mediocre at best – as are all the major US manufacturers.

Q: Are Chevrolet Cobalts girly cars and should men not drive them?
I was just wondering if Chevrolet Cobalts are girly cars. I am a man and I would like onw.

A: You have to be about 5′4″ short or shorter to fit comfortably in a Cobalt. Which is the average height of a female here in the US. I sat in one last year and I had to tilt my head about 45 degrees to the side to sit in the car. Needless to say I did not rent that car. Rented a Hyundai Elantra. Really nice car. I am waiting for the 2009 Elantra Touring to hit the dealer’s floors.
BTW I am 6′1″ tall.

Q: How come there are so many more Chevrolet cars in NASCAR than Dodge or Ford?
I think in the last race there were 18 Chevys, 11 Dodges, 9 Fords, and 5 Toyotas. I think that the car manufacturers should all have the same amount. I was just wondering how come there are so many more Chevys.

A: And I have the correct answer for this. It is a fact that NASCAR is a pro chevy organization. More Chevys are in Nascar because they have an unfair advantage over the other 3 makes in the old car which they will race at TMS next weekend. What team would not want an unfair advantage over the other makes and Nascar made that possible when the Monte Carlo that Chevy way back in 95 was horrible. So Nascar gave them a 3 inch kickout on the nose that has yet to disappear. A major front end downforce advantage, less push in the corners. When Ford introduced the Taurus in 1998, it took 7 out of the top 10 spots at the Las vegas race, so Nascar(Chevy lovin’) took and slapped a spoiler change on the Ford. They did not do anything to Chevy in 1995 when they took 26 out of 33 races that year so teams know this and pick the brand most loved by Nascar so they have the best chance to win. Make that nose look like the real monte carlo like the ford and toyota and see how many races they win, it would be alot less. And to the guy that said Ford Dodge and Toyota suck is exactly why I will most of the time unless I feel like it is not worth wasting my gas smoke a Chevy with my Mustang including Vettes.

Q: Does chevrolet offer good support and service for it’s cars?
I am looking to buy a chevrolet car probably a normal car, not pickup and I wanted to know if their service and repairs and all were good. for example, if i am under warranty, and some problem arises that is covered by my warranty, can I take it to them and will they give me a replacement car for free? how long do they usually take to repair things. are they a type of company thats hard to work with or do they make you pissed off?

A: yes they do

Q: is a 2001 chevrolet malibu worth 3,250. and if anyone knows, are chevrolet cars foreign made cars or american?
made cars. also i have another concerning question. in general, are chevrolets cars dependable/good cars?

A: Duh, don’t you know the theme it’s a American Revolution! Oh yeah there the best no doubt.

Q: Chevrolet Cars rank in Indian auto market?
In Indian automobiles market, what is is rank of General Motors- Chevrolet?

A: Initially, Chevy cars had a spoilt name as the expenditure after buying the car was on the higher side, so now Chevy has offered warranties, where the expenditure after purchasing the car has come down. So Chevy cars have a decent ranking in India.

Q: Advantages of General Motors Chevrolet cars?
What are the advantages can we have by purchasing General Motors – Chevrolet in India?

A: In India Maruti Suzuki 800 was sold and is being sold in great numbers….
So safety rating depends on overall design of the car:::: SPARK,UVA,AVEO,CRUZE have safety rating depending on design

Just compare above models of chervolet with 800,Van,Esteem,Nano etc on safety

Now on advantages of chevy cars :
Bold and attractive looks
Value for money car!!good dealer and corporate discounts
Cashless maintenance upto 45,000 km !!!!
Warranty three years / 1,00,000 km !!!!
Expaning dealers/service network !!!! in 178 cities and 203 outlets!!!!

Q: Is this true about Chevrolet Cars and SUVs?
I am looking into getting the 2010 Chevy Equinox for my birthday and someone told me chevys are good for the first couple of years and after that they aren’t very reliable.
Is this true???

A: good choice! i love the 2010 Equinox. but back to the question. that is just a perception. The past few decades it was true because GM wasn’t trying, but now that they are in trouble they are trying extremely hard. The new chevy malibu actually has better than average reliability raitings. Pretty much all new GM products are just as reliable as any other automaker. Plus they look better, drive better and in some cases have better quality. The equinox is the new class leader in fuel economy, quality and surpasses the rav4 or CRV in just about everyway. I say go ahead, buy american and be confident that your equinox will work well for a long time. Not to mention that if it does start to crap out after 2 or 3 years you have a 5yr/100000 mil warrenty on that puppy so no worries. GO FOR IT!!!!!

Q: whats the value of Chevrolet classic cars or how to check prices of classics?
I want to buy a 1956 Belair chevy 210 / 110 do you know how to check the value of this car. Or is there a appraisal website
thanks

A: Depends on condition and model. 69 camaro zl1….YOU WONT EVER FIND ONE…..original low miles arouund $250,000 is what they will tell you but you could sell one for over a million if you had it. Just depends on what people are willing to pay for any car.

Q: Whats better Chevrolet cars or Toyota cars?
I got a 94 chevrolet cavalier and its been great. I would definately buy one again. What ywould you rathar have?

A: I say its all pretty much the same. It really depends how you treat the vehicle. Toyota and the other Asian car makers have been creating a lot of hype lately for reliability and long lasting engines and what-not. I don’t think any other carmaker is worse though. I know a guy that has 900 000 miles on his Monte Carlo. I also know a guy that has over a million on a Land Rover (rated by most car magazines among the worst of vehicle makes). Both of these guys never have any major issues with their vehicles other than routine maintenance. Sure the water pump will give out at 150 000, but I know a lady with a Corolla and hers gave up at 45 000. I would say buy what you think is best (most comfortable and feels genuinely “tight”), not Edmunds or JD Power. When you own that vehicle, treat it good and it will treat you well.

Q: What cars/truck/suvs have a chevrolet 572 engine?
I have a 1965 chevy pickup and need to find a car/truck/suv that has a chevrolet big block 572 so I can rebuild the engine and put it in the truck.
Thanks for answers!

A: It isn’t stock on any production vehicle. It is a high performance 9.4 liter 572 cubic in. crate engine. They usually deliver about 720 HP and 685 lb-ft of torque.

Q: Anybody know accessories dealers for chevrolet captiva in India especially in mumbai?
I want to know abt accessories dealers for captiva suv.
Accessories include led lamps, front bumper guard, etc.

A: try google search and google map for locating

Q: Where can i find relatively cheap performance upgrades and other accessories for my 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LT?

A: Thats a common misconception. Performance is never cheap.

Q: Which is the better car, the Chevrolet Cruze or the Ford Focus?
Shopping for a new car here in the Philippines. I don’t think there is that much difference except in some accessories between local and US versions of these cars (just minor things for example, we don’t need heated seats here!). So which do you think is the better car?

A: the focus is a much better car and a lot better made than the Chevy is and ford didn’t ask for any money on the bail out program, you got to respect them for that and they are building a much better car than Chevy is right now,and its one of the most fuel efficient cars their is on the market also,i have drove one and would consider buying one if i was looking for a good car, good luck.

Q: Does any one know a site to get parts and accessories for your truck ?
Besides LMC Truck, Ebay, and Summit Racing.

I have a ‘90 Chevrolet 4×4

A: jc whitney will have all the accessories youd ever want, but i wouldnt buy a mechanical part from them

Q: what are the specifications on the accessory drive belt for a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu?

A: if you are talking about the routing, there should be a diagram under the hood. If there is not, any auto parts store should be able to show you the routing sequence

Q: Where can i get a parts catalog for a Chevrolet Cavalier??? READ DETAILS for year and other info]]?
I need a few parts for my 1997 Chevy Cavalier. So i would like to know how to obtain a free catalog from someone that sells parts for my make and model. I would also like to see if i can get a free catalog with some cool accessories for the car aswell. I’ll take websites, phone numbers, anything to get my hands on a catalog.

A: http://www.partstrain.com/ You will find some great parts and prices on this site for your cavalier.Ive used this site for years on lots of different parts and accessory’s for my 2003 cavalier.Always good prices and quality parts.Best of luck.

Q: hay i have 2 choose from Volkswagen jetta(diesel), Chevrolet Cruze & skoda laura (diesel)?
i am impressed by the style of cruze, its low maintenance cost being chevrolet… & has very good interior… chevrolet has lot of accessories, very low vibration being diesel & is really value 4 money…

Jetta seems 2 be very steady 2 drive (i observed during test drive), excellent built quality (metal used was very hard as compaired 2 cruze) but is low on styling, & is comparatively small.
the best thing abt jetta is the tag volkswagen… which is very prestigious.
jetta also a very high maintenance cost being german

laura is good in comfort but is very costly 2 maintain… the built quality is good

please help me 2 choose the most prestigious out of these 3…

have a look over this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA7PFzPwyQk&feature=related

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carquotes.sinfree.net

Q: Drive belts on 1999 Chevrolet Tracker?
OK motorheads, I need some help. Just got a new/used 1999 Chevrolet Tracker (really a Canadian built Suzuki) with the 2.0 liter DOHC motor. There are two drive belts: a serpentine that drives most accessories, and a little one in front that only spins the fan. What’s the procedure to replace these? The manual is of no assistance.

A: Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Loosen the adjusting bolt and the pivot bolt.
Remove the tension on the fan belt by rotating the tension bolt counterclockwise.

Remove the 4 fan nuts. Use a second wrench to hold the fan shaft.
Important: Do not damage the radiator when removing the fan.

Detach the fan from the pulley hub and remove the fan belt.

Installation Procedure

Install the fan belt while holding the fan away from the pulley hub.
Install the fan to the hub.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the 4 fan nuts. Use a second wrench to hold the fan shaft.

Tighten
Tighten the fan nuts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

Install the fan belt properly on the pulleys.
Turn the tension bolt clockwise in order to obtain the specified belt deflection under 10 kg (22 lbs) of force.

New Belt Deflection
4-5 mm (0.16-0.20 in)

Used Belt Deflection
5-7 mm (0.20-0.27 in)

Tighten the adjusting bolt and the pivot bolt while holding the correct tension on the fan belt.

Tighten the bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the battery cable bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

Q: A Question For People Who Know Where To Find Cheap Prices On Truck Parts And Accessories Online
I’m trying to find the cheapest price possible for a go rhino 3000 series chrome step-guard grille guard. its for my 1994 Chevrolet Full-Size Blazer, 2 door, 4 wheel drive.

A: try ebay

Q: Guy with a girly car. Need site to get guy accessories.?
I need things like a body kit, rims that fit it, lowering shocks/coils, etc. 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 3.1. Thank you if you answer this.

A: www.bodykits.com
www.discounttire.com
www.slickcar.com/accessories/cavalier_accessories.asp

Q: Chevrolet Captiva, Honda CRV or Toyota Rav4?
We’re looking to buy a compact SUV but dont know which the best one is.

What we need in the SUV are:
1. fuel efficiency
2. safety features and storage space
3. resale value
4. the most accessories or “perks” that come with the standard price.

So generally, we’re looking for one that’s great value for money.

Which do you recommend?

A: Honda crv

it’s expensive

but worth it

that spare tire on the back of the toy rav4 is a safety hazard
the honda has removed it.

not familiar with a captiva but Hondas are better than 95% of any chevy.
(former camaro owner, future corvette owner)

Q: Where is the relay for my rear hatch?
I have a 1993 Chevrolet K1500 Blazer (Silverado). It has an electric rear hatch. I replaced the actuator motor in the tailgate, however it did no good. There is obviously a relay for it, but I am not sure where. There is no fuse because there are no accessory fuses. It is a pain to go to a grocery store and not be able to use the key FOB to open the hatch. Help me…PLEASE.

A: the door lock relay is located up under the dash behind the radio

Q: Chevrolet S10 problems?
Well dad got me a truck, (99 s10 2wd single cab manual) and we have replaced the engine since when we bought it there was a hole in the block. Well the windshield wiper motor doesnt work and the radio won’t play when the truck is running. Also it has a roll pan, and the tag lights don’t work because they don’t fit through the roll pan slot or something. How long is it gonna take for the windshield wiper motor to be installed and this roll pan problem. and any idea on how to fix the radio problem? It plays when the truck is set to accessories

A: Personal opinion – roll pans look stupid. Take it off.

If the tail lights don’t fit then you need to remove the roll pan or remove some material to make the tail lights fit. Either way the lights should still function – make sure your bulbs are good, wiring is okay, fuses are good, make sure the ground is connected properly (might not be if somebody installed a roll pan). Wiring problems can be hard to track down, but they are usually pretty cheap to fix.

If the radio plays on “acc” but not on “on” you have other wiring issues as well. That doesn’t really make sense because anything that works on acc should work while on, so I am not sure what your problem is without seeing the truck in person. For a quick fix you can take the radio power wire and run it through the “on” part of your ignition. That way it won’t work on accessory, but at least you will have some tunes driving down the road.

Windshield wiper motor – are you installing it or having it installed? If you are doing it yourself you should count on a few hours, but it shouldn’t be an all day project. I would double check to make sure you actually NEED one before you buy one. Your question already hints that your vehicles has some electrical issues. It is possible the motor is good but some wiring got messed up or the switch went bad or a relay is bad. Troubleshoot before you start buying parts you may not really need.

Q: How can I fix the ignition tumbler on my truck?
1998 Chevrolet S-10; key is stuck in the accessory position

A: The problem is that most tumbler will only come out of the column when the Key in on accessory position, you might try pushing the tumbler back into place and see if it comes un-stuck!

A: The 118K miles on the vehicle are of little concern, in my opinion.
My current GM car has 130+ on it, my last one had over 275K.

Best advise, if your not mechanical, is take it to a local GM dealer or an independent shop you trust, pay them the 75 or so dollars they want and have a pre purchase inspection done. They will check the brakes, the over all condition of all the fluids, the suspension and so forth. Well worth the money for the information. With a written list of needs and an estimate for the work that needs to be done you can negotiate the price with the seller. If the seller is not willing to have this done, steer clear of the vehicle.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Q: i have to questions the first one is which cars are better the porsche carrera or the chevrolet ?
corvette. and the second one is what color do both cars come in because i ask i want to get a fast hot car and i like both off them but i don’t no is the chevrolet is a good car for a girl or a boy and the Porsche i don’t no is is for boys or girls

A: i would get the american made car not cus i got anything about porsche if u needed parts u would just go to chevy and the could get it to u faster than u could with porsche

Q: Chevrolet Malibu Questions?
Can anyone answer these questions.
1.what is the drive train, all wheel, front wheel, or rear wheel.
2.does it have dual air conditioner/heat, for passenger and driver.
3. can your ipod/iphone work in the car.
4. what do the + and – mean on the stearing wheel, what are they for
btw, its the 2009 model

A: 1. All Malibu’s are front wheel drive.

2. The higher end models (2LT & LTZ) have dual zone a/c.

3. It says on the web site that all cars made after 3/9/09 have a USB port & single CD. It says nothing about it being able to control an iPod. It may, but there was info in it. All vehicles prior to 3/9/09 have either a single CD or 6 CD changer. And then to get the USB port you have to get into the 2LT or LTZ trim that has the premium 8 speaker stereo systems. The 2LT & LTZ trims have blue tooth.

4. The + & – signs are for the tap shift on both the 2LT & LTZ trims. It allows you to select when to shift the transmission. Basically turn your car into a little sports car for your amusement. It’s ok with the 4 cyl, but you really need the V6 to make it perform the way it was designed to. Also you may see the + & – on the volume control for the stereo on the steering wheel.

I have really studied the Malibu in great detail. I really want an LTZ, white, ebony/brick leather, & V6. But I don’t have the finances in place for it. I would for sure order one if you really want that USB port. Dealers have a surplus of those cars around. Don’t let them sweet talk you into a car that’s been on the lot for the last 10 months. Order one!

Q: questions about Chevrolet Cavalier?
what all can i do to make my 2003 red Chevrolet Cavalier look cool and alot faster..its 2 door and a 5 speed..any ideas? and give me a price range

A: Lowering will give you a big plus in looks and handling. I’d recommend Eibach Pro springs and KYB AGX shocks and struts. You can pick up the springs online for about $250 (Summit Racing) and the shocks and struts will be about $400 (Ebay). I purchased the mounts from KYB and new insulators from the dealer (another $100 maybe) and built the entire suspension while sitting on the couch and did a wheel-by-wheel swap.

As far as speed… look at your intake and exhaust. Getting a cold air intake ($250), exhaust headers ($200), hi-flow cat ($200) and a high flow muffler ($100) may find you another 15-20HP. To kick it up a notch you could get a nitrous bottle. At 40HP and light use, it may not rip your engine apart. At 60HP and frequent use, your car may not last very long. You can also find that at Summit Racing.

Q: 2003 Chevrolet Impala oxygen sensor questions?
I need to know how many oxygen sensors are on this car and if it is downstream or upstream.

A: Without lookin it up because i am busy.It will nave 3 or 4 One in each cylinder bank and one after the catalylic converter.that makes it sure the converter is workin correctly.the ones in each bank of cylinders tells the ecm if you have a lean/rich condition goin on.Just scan it with a scan tool.that will tellyou exactly. And if there is any problems.

Q: 454 BIG BLOCK questions. RV, chevrolet, please help!!!?
Ok, I have a RV with a Chevy 454 in it. I wanna drop it into my 1967 Chevrolet C10. Is there any difference between a RV Chevy big block and a car Chevy big block? Thanks.

A: take the number,s off the block & go to your local chevrolet dealer/ ask a tech. or part,s man. depending on the year of the engine…it may be a tall block or be set up with modified head,s. a tall block will not interchange thing,s like intake manifold,s, standard exhaust system,s,etc…chance,s are it,s no different than the standard car block but better check to be sure. good luck!

Q: Chevrolet Car questions?
What are all the Chevy models that are 4 cylinder

Q: Chevrolet Cobalt LT 2008 Oil and Oil-Filter Change Questions?
Hi:

- Can someone post a schematic of how the cover (covering the oil filter) should be removed and later installed?
- Can some one post an schematic of cars underneath showing the location of the oil-plug.
- Should I use PF457G (filter only) or PF458G (Filter, Cap, and Cap Seal) for oil filter. If the PF457G, then how should the filter be disassembled and then assembled with the new filter part?

Thank you.

“BRILLIANT”!!!!

Q: 2-1998 chevrolet blazer questions, 10 points to best answer?
1.)How do i remove my governor. Can i have it done professionally?
2.)Im short on cash, what are some fast, easy, and cheap ways to increase my horsepower, i already have a flowmaster model 40 on it so. . . . . .
i have a non stock tranny in it my 4th gear ratio is set to run to ~120mph. it wont blow i cant run it maxed long enough, no straights her in wv besides interstate.

A: You will need to use a hand-held programmer, or the similar to adjust the maximum speed. All are capable of running over 100mph (98 factory max speed setting).

The reason for the governor is the speed rating of the tires when it was sold. My truck (with 3.73 gears) turns right close to 2500-2600rpm when I hit the limit (no where near blowin).

As for increasing the power, the hand-held programmer can do it ($300-400 bucks) The Westers programmer costs the most (versus the Hypertec or similar) but has the best tune in my opinion. Do a cat-back exhaust (another $250-400)

Q: 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe questions?
have you ever seen a souped up one, is it worth souping up and it has some electronic thing wont go over 112 mph can i take that out?

A: I’ve seen a sporty looking one, but fixing up a 4 cyl.?

Q: questions about Chevrolet c/k automatic hubs????? HELP!!!?
Can you convert a 90’s chevy c/k pick-up from auto hubs to manual locking hubs????? I love the 90’s era chevy c/k pick-ups but i hate the fact that they have automatic locking hubs because auto hubs are very unreliable, so is it possible to replace the auto hubs with manual locking hubs, if so how expensive is it to convert to manual locking hubs on a chevy pick-up

A: Warn hubs run about 150 here in canada. It sure saves gas.

Q: ‘05 Chevrolet Suburban Electrical Questions?
Never tried yahoo! answers before, but here goes…….(BTW, I noticed “Chevy Owner” is a GM cert. mech. and provides seemingly good advice.)

I have an ‘05 Suburban LT Autoride 5.3L with just about every bell and whistle one could imagine for options. My situation is that I like to tailgate and there does not seem to be an “accessory” position which powers just the “cab”. (With the truck off) If I want to run the DVD for the kids, or the sound system, I’m told by the Chevy Dealer that all the “modules” for the engine management system are powered too. They said I’m doing real good if it will go 45min. on the stock battery. I’ve had that load tested and my battery guy says I’m in good shape. Now I’ve noticed that there are 2 “fuse boxes” for the vehicle. The one under the hood appears to be for “chassis” functions and the one by the driver side door hinge is for “cab” functions. My questions is this…..Is there a kit (factory/aftermarket??) that adds a second battery and isolates the two fuseboxes. This would be similiar to a set-up found in a larger boat in that one battery could be used for starting, engine management, and vital functions (ABS, exterior lamps, etc.) and the other battery could be used for “cabin” functions (interior lights, sound, dvd, 12V accessory outlets, etc.). When the alternator is charging (engine running) the isolator could switch both batteries to be in parallel for charging, when not charging, it isolates them. Of course a manual overide would be smart to allow for emergency situations. I think it would be no biggie to make one, and I’ve found an aftermarket 2nd battery tray, but my truck is still under the extended warranty and I don’t want to void that part of it. I can’t see that anything would work any different “electrically” assuming both batteries had some charge. This would be especially useful when we overnite in the truck 5-6 times per year. More than a few times I’ve had to jump the truck if the battery goes down enough for the “run-down” protection to kick in (or drop out?). If I can do this, I would spring for Optimas. One starting, and one deep cycle. Did I just blow everyones brain???? Hope at least someone understands the question and can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

- Mike in South Jersey (yeah, there’s a difference!)

A: sounds like a good idea but you’ll probably need a bigger alternator also dosent deisel engines have two batteries i dont know just thinking out loud or get a battery jumper maybe a cheap fix good luck

Q: I have a chevrolet truck transmission question?
I have a 96 chevrolet truck, half ton, full size rwd, with an automatic in it. it has lost reverse. I have access to a 95 transmission but the wiring harness is supposedly different. Is there any way to make the 95 work in the 96 truck such as a wiring adapter kit etc. If so any idea as to where to get such a thing. I know everything else will bolt up it is just the electronic issue. thanks for your time. chris

A: the newer trans has different computer to operate the shift you need a pro to work this out for you. the wires go in to the valve body. you may be able to use the old valve body. Go on line to ASK. type in transmission mods or, get in touch with a hot rod shop and ask about the conversion from year to year.

Q: 1983 Chevrolet Scottsdale Question?
I just wanted some input and had a few questions about an 1983 Scottsdale.

I just purchased it for 800 dollars from my uncle. It’s got a brand new frame because it was recently restored to a “Good” condition.

It has some rust around the fender wells, the tail gate, and the doors. Not much just enough to need some work, and repainting. Also It needs a new grill, and I would like to replace the Door Panels, and the Dash, because they are blue and I plan on refinishing the truck and I want them to match the exterior.

I was wondering if anyone had a good estimate on what fixing the rust spots, sanding, priming, repainting, fixing the grill, and doing some interior work woudl cost?

Also it has a 350 4 Barrel.

Any advice, comments, or suggestions would be great.

A: As and avid Chevy man myself, I owned an 83 Silverado, 86 K5 Blazer, 87 Silverado, I would go to this website:

http://www.lmctruck.com

There you can choose the year and style of your truck and they will give you the prices for the repair panels and pieces that your needing.
Unfortunetly, not many body shops want to handle rust anymore. I found that out when I tried to get my Blazer fixed I went to 5 body shops and they all said “Buy a New ONE” cuz it’ll be cheaper.
However, if you like to tinker around with them you can have the shops or a good friend who knows how to weld put in the panels for you. I had mine done for a case of beer. Then you can have someone do a paint job on it.
If you are not wanting a show truck but just something that looks nice from about 5 to 10 feet away you can paint it your self. It is actually quite easy to do.
But usually you can find someone to paint it for around $500 to a $1000 sometimes cheaper.
Hope this helps!

Customer Complaint: Took off from a stop, vehicle ran real high in 1st gear, backed off pedal to allow it to shift, it fell out of gear and never went back into any gear. No gear engagement foward or reverse. Line pressure ok.

I just started disassemblin this 700R4 today, and got into a discussion with someone about posibilities, and he and I disagree, so, since automatic transmissions are not my specialty by any means, I need some advice so I know if I am right or if I need to go tell him he is right.

Found the Accumulator spring to be broken in half. I also think that a broken 1st/reverse band could cause the problem.

He says brroken accumulator spring would not stop it from enaging in gear, and that if the 1st/reverse band wer gone, it would just start off in 2nd gear and drive ok.

So, will a broken accumulator spring cause no gear engagment and would a bad 1st/reverse band cause no gear enagement?

Thanks for your help
Sorry, that was 6.2 Diesel engine, not 6.3

A: sorry to be you.go tell him hes right.the truck would just start off in second and bypass right by first.

Q: Are Japanese cars worth a try?
ive owned a 2000 chevy cavalier, one of the most crappiest sedans chevrolet has produced. crappy A/C, no power-locks or windows, have had to repair it every 2 months or so for the last 4 years (bought it 6 years ago). got about 90,000 km. mainly on local roads.

so anyway, is a new-model Japanese car worth a try? older models rust easily, can the same be said of years 2000 +?

is it true that Japanese cars fare worse when it comes to crash safety performance?

recommend any good sites for this kind of discussion?

any help is greatly appreciated.

A: OK,if you wanted power windows and locks why did you buy a car that didn’t have them?I really don’t believe you had that many problems with the vehicle, people tend to exaggerate when they have a few problems.I have owned quite a few GM and Chrysler vehicles and never had any major problems with them, some have gone over 200,000 miles and had a Dodge Ram diesel go over 400,000 miles. But I take care of my vehicles with regular oil changes and maintenance and when I see a problem developing I take care of it right away.I believe a lot of people don’t take care of their vehicles and then blame the auto makers. The GM,Ford and Chrysler vehicles are just as reliable as any Japanese car if taken care of properly.I believe Toyota recalled more vehicles last year than GM,Ford and Chrysler did together, now the Tundra has a major camshaft problem and has over 70 service bulletins on it.Go to http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/20.

Q: What do I need to change about this email I’m sending to a company?
I’m writing an email to Chevrolet requesting the schematics for a vehicle that has been discontinued. I never really wrote such an email, so I need some help. Here’s what I have so far-

As you may know, the S10 Blazer developed quite a cult following, and several forums devoted solely to the Blazer sprang up. I am a member of one of these forums, and a huge fan of the Blazer. Unfortunately, it was discontinued back in 2003. I was wondering if the blueprints or schematics for this were still available. If they are, I would like to get a copy of them. The ones I am requesting are for the 1992-1994 four door models as well as the 1996-2002 two and four door models. If possible, I would like them in PDF format.

Like that? It feels kinda… open ended. I didn’t like the way I left it at the end. This is better, but like I said, it just seems to abruptly stop.

A: If they are, I’m interested in getting a copy of them.

^sounds better.

Otherwise, it’s fine. You should say something like “Thanks for your time” at the end.

If they don’t reply to your email in like a week or two, you should just try calling the company. Really, it’s almost better than emailing but with email you do give them time to respond.

Q: My engine blew, warranty wont cover. Can I take legal action, or what to do?
I purchased a vehicle (a Toyota 2000 MR2 Spyder) last year on September 06.
I didn’t buy it at a Toyota dealership, I bought it at a Chevy dealer’s certified used car lot. (Community Chevrolet in Burbank, CA)

I purchased the car with only 16,000 miles on it, at a great deal to.
I also purchased the optional warranty provided by GMC.
A 24 month/24,000 mile protection plan which covers the engine and drive terrain from any defects/malfunctions.

The next month on Oct I took it to a mechanic who is covered by their warranty. The car was making a rattling noise, but still running fine.
I paid a deductible of $100 and picked up the car in a week.

The issue was fixed, yet on Nov I took it in again, the noise came back. This time I wasn’t charged the Deductible.

When the car was @ 22,335 Miles I took it to get an oil change.
Anyways, needless to say, at 24,235 miles the car took a dump.
The engine locked and seized, the engine blew.

I dropped it off at the mechanic and he checked the oil and there was none. He said warranty was not going to cover it due to neglect, that I failed to put oil in it.

However I had just added oil 1800 miles ago.
He said then there should be oil.

I told him him that not exactly, there are certain conditions in which a car will burn up the oil, and it will then come out as smoke or a milky substance through the exhaust.

I researched why this could have happened, and on
spyderchat.com (Mr2 Spyder owner enthusiast)
they list that the 1ZZ engine in the MR2 had a couple defects.

http://spyderchat.com/forums/index.php?s=888289dcebbd632686cd1ac240ca7c8a&showforum=6

basically precat issues, and faulty piston ring issues, which as you know may cause oil to burn up, rather quickly, thus when checking the level, there will be no oil.

So what can I do because warranty refuses to cover the engine.

Can i take legal action? Can i show them all this proof?
What would you do.
Im so sick and tired only after 6 months of having the car 3 issues occurred, 1 of them that ended its life.

Also check this out, can this help my case?

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/214788/toyota_engine_woes.html
What reason would an engine have to loose oil in less than 2000 miles though.

I didn’t notice the oil consumption until it blew.

I did check the oil, early feb I checked and it was fine.
End of feb is when it went out.

I bought it a 16,000 miles changed oil at 18,500. first time then second time at 22,335. then at 24.135 it went out.

I doubt toyota would cover it since i purchased it at a chevy dealership.

A: Not to take sides, but you’re supposed to check the oil. I can’t imagine the gauge or light didn’t come on warning you about low oil. I think you’re on your own and would have a hard time finding a lawyer to take this on contingency, but you never know. Doesn’t hurt to ask. The dealer may give you a nuisance settlement just to make you go away. I personally think that stinks, but people do it every day. If you read your own link, it says Toyota would have fixed the problem if you had warned them of the high consumption. Oh well.

A: Get proof that the oil was changed 1800 miles before the car committed hari-kari. Present this to the warranty people to prove there was no neglect. If no one responds, hire an attorney to write a demand letter threatening legal action. You have a claim against the warranty company for not honoring your contract and against Toyota for selling a defective car.

Q: Will a BF Goodrich 285/75/r16 tire fit on my stock rim which previously had a 265/70/r16 tire on it?
I have a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ext cab 4×4 and it came with some old GeoTrac 265/70/r16 tires on it and I’m looking to upgrade to a BF Goodrich All Terrain 285/75/r16 tire. I have checked on some forums and I am pretty sure it will fit in the wheel well ( I had the torsion Bar cranked to level truck), but I am curious as to whether it will mount on the current rim, or will I have to upgrade because of the increased section width.

A: Yes. My truck came with 245/75/16 which is the same height as the 265/70’s, but skinnier. I installed a set of 305/7016s which are the same height, but wider than the 285’s. No rubbing, no brake problems, better highway performance. Go for it!

Q: What do you think of my car?
Its a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34. It is the only supercharged 5th gen in Colorado, and as far as i know from various forums, the only one with the certain kit that i have on it.

Q: Why does my Company Owned Fleet Vehicle, keep kicking off the pump while fueling, up to as many as 100 times?
Why does my Company Owned Fleet Vehicle, keep kicking off the pump while fueling, up to as many as 100 times?

This is a fleet vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet P/U 1500 V6. I just recently got this vehicle, and have discussed this problem with all other employess which of some drive the 4 door v8 model silverado and also have this same problem. (all chevy vehicles, Light trucks, do this 2003 thru 2008)

I hunted a solution on automotive forums but couldnt find anything vehicle specific.
Ive tried everythign from using a lower setting but most pumps dont go slow enough to compensate for any usefulness. Generally i just have to slowly rotate the pump handle a few degrees at a time, each time the pump kicks off, till i find the pumps sweet spot. Every pump/ station is different and consumes way too much time? Is there anything i can do? cut the vent tube? replace the vent tube with a different bend type? anyone else have this situation?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
thanks for the quick answers, as i own a 79 chevy dually which does a similar problem and the solution was pull the neck out a little at a time, i have tried this trick but none works as well as i said. Pulling out neck uaully results in dri down the side of the truck, as id slowly try different depths.

@auto zone funnel? can you elaborate?

A: Do not insert the pump neck as far into the fuel port on truck. The curvature of the pump neck is a sharper degree than the fuel inlet tube on truck. The fuel is sprayed ono the side wall and tip senses fuel splatter cutting off pump.

Do not exceed 1/2 of the normal insertion into the fuel inlet tube of truck. Problem solved

Q: What to do to my 91 trans am?
I finally broke down and bought a car. I got tired of riding my bikes in the rain. I’ve actually never owned my own car before i’ve had a motorcycle(s) to drive since i was 14 and i’m 26 now. While i have worked on a few chevrolet motors before i’m no pro. I’m just looking for ideas for this 5.0l (305) to make it have a bit more acceleration. I’m already planning on having the car repainted and reupholstered. First and foremost i’m just looking for ideas, I understand this isn’t a technical forum. my goals are 400-450hp naturally aspirated.

A: Well start saving for the engine to make 400-450 hp will not be cheap. So first off find a good 350 engine or a 400 small block. You can make a 383 stroker out of a 350.Look at summit racing.com or jegs.com they sell complete rotating assemblies to build a 383 but they start at $1000.00 on up for the kits, then you need a matching cam, intake and heads in order to meet ur goals of 400-450 hp.Power come with a price or call a engine shop and ask them to give you a idea what it will cost for them to build you a 383 and the hp goals you have. But dont be shocked if you hear $4000-5000.00 to build the engine.

Have you tried this one?

Q: how do i remove the window crank on a 2006 chevrolet cobalt?
I am trying to put speakers in the doors on my car, and i have read forum after forum about this topic, and they all say there is a small ‘C’ shaped clip just behind the crank. I have messed with this for an hour now, and i don’t see any clip. I even bought the tool to remove the crank, however without a clip, i have no use for it.

A: You don’t have to see the clip. Just push the tool in behind, from the same angle as the handle points. That’s the way they’re always lined up. Why do you think the handle of the tool is so long? To reach past the crank handle.

The tool will grab the outter ends of the “C”, and spread it and push it off. When you’re done, put the clip back on the crank, then just rotate it until the splines mesh, and push it back on.

Here’s a couple pics that should help;

They’re always mounted in this direction;

http://i.ehow.com/images/a02/0f/bv/install-car-window-crank-handles-1.3-800X800.jpg

This is on a different kind of handle (door opening handle), but it shows good how it works;

http://image.superchevy.com/f/17294487/sucp_0803_09_z+aftermarket_specialty_tools+window_crank_handle.jpg

You shouldn’t push the panel back at all, or pull on the handle. Just slip the tool in between, from the direction of the knob, and it virtually does the rest of the job itself.

Q: I need information on Chevrolet Cobalt 05′ radio removal and installation of different head unit?
I’ve heard that the vehicles computer is wired to the factory radio and thus makes life very difficult to change the head unit. This is a rumour I heard so confirmation on this would be appreciated. I’d like to perform the work myself so reference to schematics, websites, forums etc would be helpfull. Thanks for the help

A: it is true dash ,warning lights and gauges will stop working also the little ding ding ding chime will stop working only two ways to do this make very long wires and keep the original radio in the trunk you need 2 cables ground and one speaker
or buy a 80.00 interface that will let you remove the radio and install a new one
also when you take the factory radio out there is no ignition in the dash for a new radio only constant power

Q: Where is the crankshaft position sensor located on a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2 L4?
I was driving the vehicle on the highway at 70 mph for about 20 minutes, then all of the sudden it stalled and would not restart. I checked to see if the fuel pump would engage when I turned the key to “on” It did not. I looked around on some forums and discovered that the CKP sensor could be the cause. I don’t know the exact location of the sensor.
Thanks.

A: in back of motor above cv joint

Q: Chevrolet Silverado Forums?
I have a 2003 regular cab short bed silverado 1500 and i was wondering what were some good forums to find out info and other stuff about the truck? dosent need to be chevy specific, just good truck forums would be great.

A: http://forums.superchevy.com/index.html Hope you like this site.Best of luck.

Q: I have a Driver’s side car seat that has broken in two from the seat adjuster. Does anyone know how to fix it?
I have a ‘99 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The driver side seatadjuster has broken where the seat mounts to the adjuster itself.

I am looking for 1) a seat, or 2) a seat adjuster. 3) instructions on how to disassemble/ reassemble it. 4) a web site that may contain DIY info/videos on car repair, including interior work, as well as body work.

Does anyone sell this kind of thing online? Is there a forum for people who enjoy working on their own cars, or bedtter still the novice weekend mechanic?

At present it looks like a person may need special tools to remove the seat. Can this be true?

Any help will be Tremendously appreciated!

A: I’m a certified nut and I can help you. You must find a fetzer bracket for the seat. It’s your only option without buying a new seat assembly.

Q: I want to sell a ‘89 chevrolet van with a wheelchair lift. Are there any dealers in SE Pa. that will help me?
I’m looking for a dealer or forum where I would be able to sell my van

A: Hello, I would check into http://www.mobilityvansales.com/ as it looks like it could be beneficial in helping you sell your van. Hope this helps, have a great day.

Q: Please help if you can! 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 hard to start?
My Z71 had hard starts when COLD. Dealership said Fuel Pressure Regulator. I changed the FPR and fuel filter myself and now it starts fine COLD but is hard to start when WARM. They said it is causing a “fuel foul” in the plugs and if I change the plugs, it would run fine. Thing is, I changed the plugs and wires before going to the dealership and changed the FPR and fuel filter after. Are they full of bull or could this really work and if not what do you suggest? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I read on a forum these continuing hard starts can break the mount bolts for the starter and I’m afraid to drive it now because of this? Please help if you have any ideas? If you have any ideas but need further info, please email me and I will respond. Thanks. Jerry

A: Depends on how long you mean when you say you just did them… like within a couple days, or last year?

If nothing else… pop out a couple plugs, and look them over… maybe clean them up… but I doubt they’re the issue.

- Good Luck!

Q: 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
I’ve bought a used Trailblazer. Really like it, however it was missing the owners manual, the dealer is ordering me one, but it hard to tell how long that will take…I’ve tried searching online guides on how to operate some things in the truck but I just dont really have any luck. What I usually find is ask and answer forums where there are mechanical issues. Anybody have any ideas where I could find some user guides. Thanks in advance

A: GM has an owner resource site that will allow you to download most late model owners manuals for free!.

You’ll have to do a quick registration to use the site but I’ve used it before & never got any spam or junk from them.

The link to the site is:

Q: equinox chevy–leak problems?
http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-equinox/TBMMPR924AK2SOG21
My 06 equinox have leak in the trunk. And as you see the website furom, a lot of people have the same leak problem. Do you think the CHEVY COMPANY can help us?

http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-equinox/TBMMPR924AK2SOG21

A: depending on your mileage that maybe covered under warranty. if not I would dire the trunk out, then clime inside with a good flash light, then starting from the bottom have someone run water over it slowly working upward until you can see were the water is coming in at. then repair the leak as required. that is what the dealer will do. but just give them a call, they will let you know if your under warranty still. but do it before it starts to mold or you’ll have one of those cars with all the Christmas tree’s hanging from the mirror.lol

Q: is there a 1988 chevy blazer forums?
im look for like the 1988 chevrolet blazer forums or websites that sell parts jsut for this truck i dont want to call it like a fanclub cause that sounds wierd to me but but its like a website for 1988 blazers to talk about what you did to your truck and custom stuff on it does anyone know what im talking about

A: You won’t find a place that jusy has parts and info on that 1 year blazer.

But LMC trucks, year one and paddock parts are all great companies that has model and year range catalogs out.

You didn’t say if it was a K5 blazer or S10 blazer, If its an S10 blazer www.s-series.org is a great site for info, tech, message boards, etc

If its a K5 then the http://67-72chevytrucks.com is a great message board. Don’t let the name fool you, they have info on GM trucks/blazers/burbs up to I think 2009 lol

Q: How do you like Neko and Nelly?
I am recovering from surgery, so I’ve been sleeping and playing on the computer all day. I decided to update my member info at a forum I’m in, since I have nothing better to do.

So what do you think of them?
Nelly- http://blazerforum.com/forum/garage/1986-Jeep-Cherokee-1003-JTalley.html
Neko- http://blazerforum.com/forum/garage/1991-Chevrolet-Blazer-1002-JTalley.html
Amazing. Nelly doesn’t even run, and three people so far have picked her as their favorite.

A: I like Nelly, ^___^

Q: 1997 Camaro?
What do you guys think of a 1997 Camaro? Do you like the look/design? Here are some pics:

How does it compare to the Mustang–Corvette–Firebird??

There is a 1997 Camaro for sale in good condition for $3,200. I’m thinking about buying it. Does that sound like a reasonable price? The KBB value is around $5,000 with generic information (mileage, etc).

A: sure I’d do it if I didn’t have 3 kids. It’s like the mustang and the chevy version of the fire chicken, but the vette is way better.

Q: I need help with my vehicle’s air conditioning?
I’m hoping someone can help me out since I’m new to any type of forum. Sorry if I’m not posting this in the right spot and maybe I could be directed to the right spot. I own a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT 4.2 L/V6 and I am having issues with my air conditioning. I already tried to add R-134a but the gauge was already in the red. I added some anyway just to see what would happen. Now I’m also trying to find out how to release some of the fluid in a safe manner. My main problem is that the AC works fine when I’m driving but blows warm air when idling or at a traffic light. I hear a click every time the idler pulley tries to kick in but it doesn’t seem to catch. So I’ve been told it could be anything from replacing the idler pulley or even the compressor clutch. I am hoping someone has a simple solution to this problem because I’ve had simple solutions already to a broke temperature gauge and other issues.

A: If it is cooling at all, you probably have a bad compressor that cannot pump properly at low engine RPM.
The click probably means the compressor is driving (you can check that visibly), but just cannot deliver pressure.
Other possibilities are a clogged condensor or filter.

Q: Are toyota chinese assembled cars bad compared to japanese assembled car’s quality?
I’m going to buy a prius for 34000 dollars and it is the chinese assembled model. I want to know if there would be fake toyota cars or if the chinese prius which I think is assembled in chengchun province doesn’t have the satisfactory quality appreciated in japanese assembled toyota cars.pardon me if my english is not that good…

A: In general, the overall assembly quality of most Toyotas today has declined no matter where they have been assembled. A quick glance at any Corolla or Camry, or Sienna will show poor “fit and finish” on its interior. Usually when the fit and finish on any car is lacking in an automobile, the result is also usually poor quality mechanically as well, resulting in massive recalls. When a car maker has no pride in the way their car appears, and does not care about the way a customer FEELS as he or she looks across the interior when they get in it, it usually means other corners have been cut throughout the entire car. Unfortunately Toyota has left quality assembly slip in every area, on almost 100% of their models, resulting in the massive recalls on steering, brakes, accelerators, under-body rust, engine sludge, fuel lines leaking etc. Any Toyota you buy today, assembled anywhere will suffer from poor quality because Toyota no longer seems to care about how their cars look or drive. Nor do they want to hear about it from customers, instead blaming the defects on the customer who has paid them. If you want a good car, don’t buy that one. It’s a Toyota!

Q: Toyota cars are among the most reliable in the world .. is this really true ?
I am informed that Toyota cars have an excellent history of build quality and reliability. I live in the uk and am considering the purchase of a Auris ( this replaced the Corolla model ) .Am hoping to get reasonable comfort and economy. Any advice would be appreciated.

A: Toyota, with Honda, lead the automobile industry in quality, by quite a margin.

(1) Toyota vehicles account for 44.7% of Consumer Reports’ highest short-term reliability ratings. Honda vehicles account for 18.4%.

(2) Toyota accounts for 71% of the Best Automobiles of 2008, based on Consumer Reports Reliability Verdicts for 6 or more years. Honda accounts for another 24%.

(3) Toyota accounts for 63.2% of the entries on AutoOnInfo.net’s Roster of 300,000+-Mile Vehicles that have more than 400,000 miles and 15 years. Honda accounts for 10.5%

(4) Toyota accounts for 43% of the entries on Consumer Reports’ 2008 Good Bets list. Honda accounts for 21%.

(5) By AutoOnInfo.net’s Used-Car-Reliability Measure, Toyota’s Toyota line had a score of +.84 (the highest), on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00. Honda had the second highest score, +.83. For reference, Hyundai’s Hyundai line had a score of +.20 and General Motors’ Chevrolet line had a score of -.28.

(6) Toyota accounts for 39% of AutoOnInfo.net’s list of Automobiles with Best Engine Reliability. Honda accounted for 22%.

(7) Toyota accounts for 48.6% of AutoOnInfo.net’s list of Automobiles with Best Transmission Reliability. Honda accounts for 11.4%

(8) Toyota has a 5-year Reliability Percentrank average of .89, on a scale of 0.00 to 1.00. Honda has an average of .84. For reference, Subaru has an average of .77, Nissan, .70, Mazda, .66, and General Motors, .31.

(9) Of Consumer Reports 100 best products in the world, 7 are automobiles, and 4 of them are Toyota products – the Toyota Prius, Toyota’s Scion xD, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, and the legendary Toyota Corolla. Honda has 1 – the Honda Accord. (Subaru and Mercedes account for the remaining 2.)

(10) Toyota accounts for 4 of ACEEE’s Greenest Dozen. Honda accounts for 4.

(11) By the Reputation Institute’s 29-country survey on the trust, esteem, admiration, and favorable feeling that consumers hold for 1,000 companies and their products and services, both Toyota and Honda were in the top 20, 6th and 20th, respectively. They were the only automobile companies to make the top 20.

(12) Toyota and Honda dominate quite a number of durability measures.

Q: How reliable are toyota cars of the 1990s?
I’m looking to buy a cheap first car and don’t want to spend much repairing it all the time. Is a 1993 toyota corolla or similar my best option?

Do these cars ever break down or are they legendarily reliable even if they’re over 15 years old?

thanks

A: Ya, these Toyota Cars are freaking amazing. I have a 1994 Toyota Corolla and it runs fine! Just make sure that there weren’t any servicing appointments missed or skipped. Also, if you do buy one, regardless of what car, make sure that at least once or twice you use the engine-cleaning oil. It helps.

Q: Is it possible that the CIA or other spies sabotaged Toyota cars ?
I mean notice this whole gas pedal thing happened when Toyota was doing really well. Most people before, including myself always favored Japanese cars over American because of reliability. Now people, excluding myself, think American cars are better.
It’s possible they could have had Japanese infiltrators working inside Toyota factories, so certain car models can get ruined. That way the American auto-industry comes back.

A: Good thinking so typical of the Asian mind The American CIA went out in the middle of the night to sabotage tens of thousands of cars and no one was every the wiser
It is just this kind of anti American B/s that makes many of us want to block your products from coming into the U S

Q: Is there a website where I can get the sales of the Toyota cars in the U.S?
The sales of Toyota cars in U.S

Thanks
I meant the sales. Not the recalls.

I don’t care about the recalls. Toyota screwed up, but thats the past. They’re working hard to rebuild their reputation.

A: Once a month, monthly and year-to-date figures are published for major automakers, and they show up promptly at car sites like Autoblog and The Truth About Cars. Wait a week.

Q: How many cars does toyota make per hour?
I’d like to know how many cars toyota makes in one hour

A: According to http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/ir/financial_results/2008/year_end/consolidated.pdf , in FY2008, from Apr. 2007 to March 2008 Toyota (which includes Lexus, Scion, Hino, and Daihatsu) worldwide produced approximately 8,547,000 vehicles.

Given that Feb. 2008 was a leap month, FY2008 had 366 days.

366 days * 24 hours/1 day = 8784 hours in FY2008.

approx. 8,547,000 vehicles sold / 8784 hours = approx. 973 vehicles per hour.

Q: Should I must use Dexron II ATF? Or Dexron III is better and compatible with old ( made 1990) Toyota cars?
I have a Toyota carina ED car. Made 1990. It is 1998cc. Auto transmission ECT-S. 16 valve EFI toyota 4S engine. I mainly drive the car with CNG gas, a little in octane.

According to manufacturer (toyota) I told to use Dexron II ATF. But Dexron III ATF is more good for my old car? Is it better and compatible for this old toyota car?

A: If it takes Dexron II it can take Dexron III and this is better for your trans, but you won’t notice a differance. There are a few exceptions, but not Toyotas.

Q: What makes toyota cars so damn reliable? Is there a secret?
Every toyota old and new that my family and friends have had has never broke down due to a mechanical fault (always human error). Does anybody know why that toyotas are built to last unlike other cars? and HOW?!

A: easy,,you see other comapny add stupid things that the car dosnt need like for examp,,a honda has upper and lower ball joints.why?they could have just used 1 like most ither cars, ill tell you why,,the more you have the more will brake down,,,toyota puts just what the car needs,it makes it easyer to fix and less to go wrong,,remember the old honda prelude with 4 wheel steering?what a joke, why would you need that?you dont.

Q: How can you say toyota cars are boring?
You can buy a brand new or used toyota that at a moments notice, takes off full throttle, has such awkwardly designed controls that u can’t turn it off or put it in neutral! That’s what I call driving excitement!

A: No way !!!!

They are lots of fun when you are driving down the highway and your Tacoma frame falls in half from the rust !!!!

Q: Are Toyota Cars manufactured in US assembly plants part of US GDP?
I know Toyota is Japanese brand, but if a Toyota is put together in let’s say Huntsville by american workers. Does it count towards US GDP and why?
Thanks

A: yes it does, b/c salaries of US workers, rent for owners of land, profits & salaries of part suppliers, all show up in US GDP.

Q: What are some of the more sporty Toyota Cars?
Im looking for a toyota because of their reliability, but I also want a fun-to-drive, sporty looking car… Any ideas besides the mr2?
I meant to put celica in this, not mr2… my bad
Also it need to be in the price range of 4-7 thousand

A: My car!!

Toyota celica (2000-2005 model)
Very sporty
Very sexy
Very fast
Very safe
Very fuel efficient
Might be a bit expensive tho!!

Q: If Toyota cars are so “deadly” as many suggest then why are they still on the road?
if toyota cars are so “deadly killing machines” as some suggest then why are they still on the road in such large numbers? it shows its pure conspiracy?

A: You must be a GM person.

Q: Is the any kind of way Jack Roush could have put those spacers under the Toyota cars gas pedal?
Do they take the cars straight to the impound area? Can someone explain if immediately after the race do they have an official watching the impounded cars (meant for dyno testing) so that nobody can tamper with it (like Jack Roush maybe)?

A: I suppose that it is possible but I think they have already identified the guilty parties in the suspensions that were handed down. Jack is probably powerful and rich enough to make something like that happen if he really wanted to. Hey, if you are limited on what you can do to the cars these days sabotage may be the next frontier, as far as teams getting a leg up on their competition LOL

Q: where to buy 2007 Toyota Camry accessories?
I have been looking for accessories for my ‘07 Toyota Camry LE, (such as stainless steel door sill plates, grille inserts, door handles, etc.) at a reasonable price. I’ve already checked ebay and autoanything.com. Does anyone know of any other good websites to look for these items? Thanks!

A: Toyota will charge you the most but maybe you could check out car wreckers, they have plenty of parts and dont have over the top prices.

Q: Can anyone in singapore recommend any good car accessory shop which carry Toyota fortuner accessories?

A: how about Potensa Car Care that i found on 88db, they provide maintenance for all types of vehicles, and sell cars accessories for Toyota cars too, maybe you can check with them if they have Toyota fortuner accessories

Q: how can i get Toyota accessories specially for Camry and Prado type?
im living in iran and i want to import these accessories from dubai espesiali i want to import the body parts that they have some thing different in shape or size but they are for these type of cars

A: I would try Ebay.

Q: Toyota Yaris Sedan 2007 Performance parts and Accessories Wanted?
Is there any website where I can buy performance parts and accessories for a 2007 Toyota Yaris sedan? Particularly a lowering spring kit.
The seller has to ship worldwide as I need to send them to Sri Lanka.
I tried ebay but couldn’t find many.
Pls help….

A: There are parts for your Yaris Sedan 2007 look here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2639110 there are people around the world with super fast yaris. It doesn’t mean anything if your yaris is an 1.5 liter engine and only pull about 95 Hp. There will be always Performance parts for any type car. Check out here http://www.nopionline.com/nopistore/dsp_makes.cfm they have some really good performance parts… but they are limited in brands. Just keep looking around on the web and you will see how much sites that have Great Performance parts for your Yaris. This is just one of them…

Oh.. one thing that helped me find parts is go and buy you a import magazine or some type of street car magazine and usually they have pages beyond pages of websites on parts…

Q: Does my ‘08 Toyota have a cigarette lighter or is that receptacle in the dash only for electric accessories?
That receptacle in my dash does not accept a lighter. But it will accept
accessories like my GPS or camera recharger. Does my Toyota have a lighter holder at all? Thanks.

A: Many new Toyotas do not have lighters or ash trays. If there is no ash tray there is no lighter, do NOT put a lighter element into a power socket! Look in your owner’s manual or ask your dealer for details.

Q: why does my batt gauge jump and lights dim when using accessories. 94 toyota 4×4?
i have 94 pickup with a chevy one wire alt. altinator is good my batt gauge drops to half and jumps from just below to 34 and truck wants to die blinkers and windsheild wipers make it bogg and dim the lights, and motor dies on occation fires right back up first turn every time. help

A: its either a loose connection or a dead batt

Q: What is the best place for Toyota/Scion replacement parts and accessories?
I’m looking for a hubcap to a 2005 Scion xB. Anyone know a reputable online source with decent shipping rates?

A: Ebay.com and craiglist.org for cheap used ones. You can also look up hubcaps online and find manufacturer replica ones in sets of 4 for around $40-70 a set. They look very similar to the manufacurer ones, but there is no logo on them. I would order a set of 4, so you have spares in case you loose more hubcaps. What I would do is keep on the three remaining original hubcaps, and put 1 of your new ones on. You can only tell the little difference if you look closely at it, and the majority of peole won’t notice.

You can also get cheap ones from Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and auto parts stores. At Wal-Mart and K-Mart they will cost you anywhere from 20-30 bucks a set. At an auto parts store they cost around 25-50 a set. The probelm with buying these is that you have 3 hubcaps that you can’t use for spares in case you loose one of them, unless you want the miss-matched hubcap look (I have seen this on cars, it looks stupid). You could sell those 3 on ebay and/or craigslist, but all you will be doing is loosing time and money (plus manufacturer hubcaps tend to stay on better than aftermarket). I sold some of my hubcaps on craigslit and ended up only getting $25 for the set of 4.

Q: What is the best web site to find accessories for a 2006 Toyota Tacoma?

A: This site has quite a list of possibilities:

http://www.car-stuff.com/toyotatacomaparts.htm

Q: I Would Like To Add Accessories To My New Toyota Sienna Where Can I Find Cheap Ones ?
2007 Sienna Xle Salsa Red

A: YOUR LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER OR EMAIL ME AT WOLFRACING93@YAHOO.COM I WORK FOR ONE I CAN HOOK YOU UP

Q: Where can I buy Toyota Sewing Machine RS2000-2D Accessories?
Other than eBay. I need other feet than just zigzag.
Thanks for helping.

A: The two Toyota home machines I’ve seen used generic snap on feet, iirc, which means you can pick them up in just about any fabric store or sewing machine shop.

How to tell for sure;

http://www.clotilde.com/pages/which_foot.html

Q: where can i get styling accessories for my toyota mr2 roadster?

A: This may sound stupid but have you tried Halfords.

Q: I have a 1990 toyota corolla Dx, 4DR, where can i get some accessories for cheap?
More like a gear knob, and other interior things!

A: try ebay

Q: Where to get Car accessories for Toyota Axio in singapore..any contact?
i have these car but dun know where to get the original parts??

A: I am guessing that Pinnacle motors will supply some acessories. I am also guessing ( boy you do give me a lot of guesswork) that you mean stuff like a spoiler, skirts, decals, the works.

Otherwise you can go to the Sing Ming Area- most shops will do Toyota, but I think there’s one that specializes in toyotas… wong something motors… sorry.
Good luck.

Q: 2008 toyota tundra for caring the accessories for grass cutting?
im planning getting a tundra for my but i don’t now which one is good i have two decisions to make so which one is better the Tundra Double Cab or the Tundra Crew Max

A: Crew cab sacrifices bed space, if your looking for hauling capacity the double cab would have a larger bed.

A: too many.

Q: Toyota Nation Great Website For Toyota Questions?
Join the forum on Toyotanation.com, Its great, it has tons of other users that answer your hardest questions. Its been a ton of help to me so I just thought I’d put it out there for you other toyota drivers. Its also free!

A: You are correct! I’m a moderator on that forum and it’s one of the best resources for Toyota owners out there. Glad to hear you found it!

Q: Questions about the Toyota Prius and hybrids?
I’m looking to trade in my car for a hybrid, and I have a few questions.. I drive mostly in the city, and I find the Prius gets the best mileage, and I really like the interior. I’m open to other suggestions and would love to hear your ACTUAL EXPERIENCES with them. And would you suggest getting one now or waiting on till next year’s? (and how long would that be?)
And what edition would you suggest?
And what edition would you suggest?

A: My Prius is an ‘07 Package #2 and it serves me very well. I get 42mpg in the winter, 50mpg in the summer (since the engine is not running all the time, in hot weather it’s easier to keep the gasoline engine warmed up).

I got the Package #2 because I figure I didn’t need the fancy things like on-board GPS, bluetooth or the Bose speaker system. I kind of regretted not getting the package (#3) with the bluetooth option though now that I got a cell phone that will work with it, but I’m still very happy with mine.

Before the inevitable idiot starts blabbing how the battery needs to be replaced every 2 years for thousands of dollars, here’s the real scoop: The Prius battery carries an 8-year / 100,000-mile warranty. If it fails before then, Toyota will replace it for you free, so don’t let that scare you.

The only problem is that you probably won’t be able to find a Prius to buy. Right now the waiting list at dealerships is like 3-6 months depending on where you are.

Q: Questions about replacing Toyota Truck Engine?
I have a Toyota Truck that needs the engine replaced that has been parked for about a year.

What should I reasonably expect to pay to have the engine replaced?

What else should I expect to have to do to get this truck running again after it has been sitting for so long and how much might I expect to pay for that?

A: It really depends on what you replace the engine with. Are you going with a new engine from the dealer or a used or rebuilt engine from a local mechanic? Also depends on the model of the truck. If a local mechanic rebuilds your engine (I would go with this, myself) it will probably run around $2,000. If you buy a rebuilt engine and have a local mechanic install it it will probably cost around $4,000. Often after a vehicle has been parked for about a year, the battery will be bad, and the front and rear transmission seals will also need replacing. It usually is much cheaper to replace the front transmission seal while they are replacing the motor (since the motor or transmission needs to be removed to gain access to this front seal). If you replace this seal while rebuilding the motor it should cost about $100. The rear transmission seal I would just wait and see if it leaks before I replaced it since access to this rear seal is quite easy. Sometimes the front disk brakes will seize up after sitting so long and that cost will vary, but somewhere around $50 to $200 to fix that – but that one really depends on what must be done to free it up.

Q: Where’s a good site to ask TOYOTA questions now that the TROLLS have ruined this one?

A: Sorry for my rant.

Definition of a Toyota Troll- A person who hates Toyota, and posts here 24/7 ranting about how bad the company is. No one cares.

If you hate Toyota, thats okay. But to the point of when you start posting crap about it 24/7 is just unbelievable.

Toyota quality is not perfect, but at least they’re reliable. And I will continue to buy them.

Q: I have oil questions about my brand new Toyota Corolla?
-When do I need to add more oil and how much (it has 1,200 miles right now)
-How do I find out what weight is currently in there?

-Can one mix synthetic and non-synthetic?

A: You don’t need to add any oil unless you see the level in the oil pan is below what it should be. It’s normal for cars to burn a little oil, but a brand new car should not burn enough for this to be noticeable, so if it occurs go see your dealer.

If you just add oil, you add little quantities until you get the right level. If you change the oil (and do not forget the filter) look in your manual.

Do NOT use synthetic oil in your engine, mixed or not. While it will not damage the engine, you will simply waste your money and will not have the benefits. Even though they say it lasts longer, it’s always a good idea to flush the oil after a few months (no more than 4, or 3,000 miles – yes even if it says 5,000 miles) as moisture might have gotten in; your oil filter might be full of debris, etc. Synthetic oil, unless required by the manufacturer, should not be used, you’re working hard for your money, keep it for yourself. Use the money you’re saving sticking with mineral oil to change the oil more often if you really want the best.

You can never change the oil too often!

Q: what are the answers to the questions in Times Online win a Toyota Prius?
the competition draw is onlline and was promoted on Saturday.

A: Follow the online clues and you should find the answers within the linked website:

http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/driving/commercial/article2672352.ece

Q: I have a few questions about the 2008 Toyota Prius?
1. I test drove one, but I don’t remember the exact sequence to start it. What is it?

2. The gas gauge is a simple E —– F that uses only squares. Is there a way to see approx. mileage left or another way to see it?

A: If it has smart-key (almost all of them do…except the base model which is rare), all you need to do is have the key with you. The car knows you have it. You don’t have to put it anywhere. Then just hold the brake pedal while you push the power button, put it in Drive and off you go!

The Prius will tell you average mpg but it unfortunately won’t tell you how many miles are left on the tank. The tank is a flexible bladder that changes in volume with temperature. So it’s nearly impossible to tell how much fuel is left in the tank. I believe that’s why they don’t include the “miles to empty” feature. Just start to look for a gas station when the gauge gets to 2 bars and you’ll be fine.

Q: TOYOTA PLANT QUESTIONS, DOES THiS PAY GOOD??
My friend works at a toyota plant in northeast georgia and he make 13.50 an hour and 20.00 an hour overtime and he does overtime all the time, and eventually he will make better than that but my question is, would this be something good for me to get into?

A: Depends on what you need to live on and what you want to do. Toyota is a stable company and would have good benefits. It can be a career and many do it. However; keep a few things in mind. Would you want to work overtime all the time. Many work 60 hours a week. Once you have a family etc. how will this effect life for you. Do you have the skills to advance. If the plant shut down would you have any viable skills that can transfer to another job. It all depends on your goals, skill level, and time commitments. Many auto workers are now baggers at grocery stores after being laid off and not having any transferable skill.

Q: A few questions about Toyota Supras?
Two questions.

1. Why is it that a stock 1998 Toyota Supra Twin-Turbo cost a ridiculous amount of money? $30-40k

2. How much did Toyota Supra TT’s cost back in the 90’s?

A: Because they are highly desirable.

It’s one of the few Motors/Tranny’s in the World that can handle 1,000+ HP with minimal modifications.

They look awesome, have a huge Aftermarket Following.

Everything about them is badass.

I believe (cost adjusted) they were about the same back in the Day to be honest. Perhaps a little bit less.

Not to mention they are getting Rarer all the time. So the only thing they are going to do is go up in value.

Don’t forget that people are willing to spend $40K+ on one. That is probably the number one reason they cost that much. If nobody is willing to spend that much, the price will come down.

Q: I got a few questions about the Toyota Camry?
1. Does a Camry with a V6 engine take alot of gas?
2.If i buy a used one how may kilometers should it have on it or it doesn’t matter
3.and last are the parts cheap?

A: I’ve owned a 95 Camry and had good luck with it.

The 4 cylinder typically gets only a few mpg better than the V6 in most cases. You would think the 6 would be a gas guzzler. The reason they are close is because the 4 cylinder needs to work harder than the 6 to get the car moving. Harder work means more gas used.

If you have the choice, I’d go with the 6. More power when you need it and it’s a smoother running engine. Just keep your foot out of the gas or it will use it.

I’d keep the mileage under 200,000km.

Camrys don’t need a lot of unexpected repairs, but things do happen. When you do have to fix something it can be more expensive than a domestic car, on average. Like any car, if you keep up on rutine maintance it should last a while.

Check www.edmunds.com or the other car buying sites for more info.

Q: 1987 Toyota Corolla Power and Exhaust Questions?
So the a/c runs blows cold and works but when I come to a stop the entire car starts to shudder and the rpm’s fluctuate but only when the a/c is on. It also runs sluggish with the a/c on, and I notice that when I come to a stop and have my turn signal on, the voltage starts to drop and rise with the turn signal. Could it be the alternator?
Also the exhaust is loud (and not in a good way), what’s the highest max price for exhaust? I know it definetely needs a new muffler, and most likely a few other things are messed up.

A: Its most likely the distributer that is messing up your voltage

You can get a good new exaust system for around $100 if you shop around

Q: Someone stated on one of my questions that Toyota is not the company they once were, is this true?
they said that there are more and more recalls every year

A: When you grow to be the number two car maker in the world and begin producing cars all over the world – you’re not going to be the same company.
More cars from more plants would naturally mean more recalls. And, as they move into more unchartered hybrid waters, you can probably expect more issues.
Toyota has a good run with reliability (unlike just about all other Japanese makes). It must be a tough fight to keep these quality standards up accross the globe.
Appearance wise, don’t think Toyota has “heritage” of outstanding cars. They have flip-flopped with some real turkeys in the past.

Q: Is there a number that i could call toyota and get some help answering some questions about my car?

A: Toyota “Customer Experience Center,”
800-331-4331 Found at www.toyota.com under “contact us.”
Hope this helps. God Bless!

Q: toyota interview questions?
i have a job interview with toyota for a warehouse associate job on tuesday i was wondering if anyone knows any questions they may ask me from a previous interview.

A: I do have friends working for Toyota as warehouse manager and order taker.

You job responsibilities as warehouse associate involves filling the orders, packing the parts prior to delivery, stocking inventories, and of course, a bit of heavy lifting.

During the interview, they would ask you if you understand auto parts well. How can you tell if that is a correct part and some general questions.

This job is not a very high demand job. They’ll train you if you are the right person.

Good luck.

A: Yahoo! groups has lots of car groups, including several Toyota specific model groups. If you have a news reader, alt.autos.toyota is a good and active site – just be aware that usenet forums are subject to the dregs of the ‘net also: spammers, trolls, spambots, and various jerks. If you reveal your actual email address it will be the target of an appalling cascade of spam.

Class action suits are normally just as they say – you are automatically a member of the suit if you meet the qualifying conditions unless you opt out. Most are trivial, though, unless you have specific losses that are covered by the settlement. For example, GM settled the suit about Dex-cool attacking their plastic intake manifold gaskets by allowing up to $800 for replacement of the affected gaskets within a certain date window (first source). Many more class action automobile suits are settled by extended warranty coverage, like Volvo’s Throttle Position Sensors and Honda’s transmissions. I have been included in other law suits that provided me a credit of up to $15 once (from a video rental chain) if I could document my purchases over a multi year period.

Q: What does Toyota know that GM does not? ?
http://edgehopper.com/what-toyota-knows-that-gm-doesnt/

This story is pretty enlightening. Read it before you comment. You should also listen to this news report.

Big 3 vs. Toyota discussion

http://edgehopper.com/wp-content/media/Big3_vs_Toyota.mp3

Please read the articles. They are pretty enlightening.

A: Toyota has succeeded in keeping unions out. I work next to the D.C. in Hebron just down the road from the Erlanger facility.

While Toyota hasn’t laid off any employees, it has let it’s temps go. Something they never mention when bragging about their no lay offs. You’ll not it say they haven’t laid off any “employees” but not how many temps they’ve laid off.

Toyota has learned from GM’s mistakes as well as its own.

I think GM’s production system is wasteful and is in bad need of an upgrade.

I worked at Toyota’s TMMK facility and I hated it. The sad part is that nearly EVERY employee I talked to said it was a great place to work when it had Japanese management.

Q: sorry Ted…I filed chapter 7 and chose not to reaffirm my toyota. As far as my understanding goes my car?
should be reposed after my discharge, from my discussion with my lawyer. Bankruptcy was filed June 22nd and my discharge came about 3 weeks ago. Don’t want to stir my name around in repo papers at toyota, so won’t call to check. Any advice on how long they could possibly allow my to keep my car?

A: OK. Your car was in fact included in the bankruptcy proceeding, which was not clear in your previous question.

Don’t worry, They haven’t forgotten about you. Once it’s in a bankruptcy filing, the law puts severe restrictions on a creditor’s actions. If he tries to collect or put any pressure on you to pay, outside of the court procedures, he can get into serious trouble. The court can hold the creditor in contempt and fine him, all the way to disallowing the debt completely, depending on exactly what they did and how the judge is feeling that day. Your creditor is probably walking on eggshells right now to avoid being too aggressive and breaking the rules. They are going to wait until they are sure everything is settled and they can legally repossess the collateral. Then there is going to be some time to push the paperwork through internally because you are dealing with a large corporate bureaucracy. It could be a few months.

Q: Why did Toyota skip the meetings regarding the new 2011 engine specs?
For once – is this a manufacturer telling the actual TRUTH about their racing programs?
===================================================
Before leaving Lee White (TRD’s group vice-president and general manager) to allow him to continue TRD’s relentless effort in NASCAR, I (Gordon Kirby) asked his opinion about IndyCar’s 2011 rules debate.

“Rod Campbell called me and they wanted me to come,” White related. “We had a board meeting in California when they scheduled their first meeting, so I couldn’t go. Then they decided they just wanted anybody wearing a Toyota shirt. So to me, at that point in time, hopefully without being too critical, this wasn’t about really having a discussion. It was about demonstrating that they had interest from the manufacturers.”

White says that if TRD tried to sell Toyota Motor Sales on entering NASCAR in today’s economic climate it would be a difficult if not impossible sale to make. He says that means Indy car racing is completely off Toyota’s map.

“To be honest, we have serious challenges budget-wise,” White said. “The concept of going back to Indy, or to open-wheel racing, given those challenges and the fact that we haven’t got ourselves to the level we want in NASCAR yet, I’d be a fool to even propose it to the company. So I wasn’t going to go and sit and listen to yet another meeting because I do enough of that, and I wasn’t about to send somebody else just to take notes. So we did not go.

“I asked (former Ford Racing boss) Dan Davis before he retired if he was going and he said, ‘Heck, no!’ And I stopped somebody from Chevrolet and asked if they were going and they said, ‘No. Why would we do that?’.”

White says he took the opportunity to suggest his own solution to Indy car racing’s debate about its 2011 formula.

“I did give Rod my opinion. I told him to go get a 1994 Lola or Reynard and put a Cosworth engine in it and go racing. Then you would have something that sounds great, runs great, looks great and puts on a great show, and everybody who loved them will jump at the chance to come and watch because there’s still a lot of people out there who remember how great those cars were. Use that as a kind of retro starting point and build it from there. But I don’t think they listened.”
===================================================

Until I read this article – I never liked Toyota that much. But they have become one of my FAVORITE manufacturers based on that last paragraph alone.

Just to quote that one more time:
“I told him to go get a 1994 Lola or Reynard and put a Cosworth engine in it and go racing. Then you would have something that sounds great, runs great, looks great and puts on a great show, and everybody who loved them will jump at the chance to come and watch because there’s still a lot of people out there who remember how great those cars were.”

A: Shoot yeah that would be awewsome to see 94 Lola with the Cosworth…He is dead on about people wanting to rememer those cars again
Great article

Q: Does a 2001 Toyota Camry come equipped with a historical blackbox?
In general discussion with my friends I have discovered that some motorcars come equipped with a historical blackbox that will provide a report on the motorcar’s operating statistics during a certain time.

I recently received a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign by a member of the LVMPD when I indeed did stop. If possible I am trying to find proof to provide to the court that I indeed did stop. Apparently people have been able to do this before.

My possible issue is that my motorcar happens to be an older model so I cannot just assume that it came with a blackbox (as do some if not all others).

I know that some people may not care and would just pay the ticket but I lost my job this year. The price of the ticket is more than a week of unemployment and so far in Las Vegas I have not been able to obtain any type of work.

Does a 2001 Toyota Camry come equipped with a historical blackbox?

Many Thanks!

A: I don’t believe it does.

I’m not sure if you can do this in Nevada but in California trial by written declaration is the best way to fight a ticket. Basically, you write a report on what you believe happened and why you should not be at fault for the ticket. This is much better than going to court for the average person because the proceedings, standing in front of the judge, etc. are all nerve-wracking and it will be much harder for you to present your case effectively on the spot.

Go back to the area where you were cited. See if there is anything strange/peculiar about the area. Perhaps the stop sign is obstructed by a tree. Things like that. You want to gather as much evidence as possible that supports your case. Try to remember all the details about when you were cited, weather conditions, traffic flow, visibility.

I have read that if you ask to have the trial moved to another date, and it happens to fall on that officers off-day, he will likely not show up and you will by default, I am not sure if there is any truth to this however.

Q: Trying to trade my car and dealer is using “auction” value!?
I’m trying to deal for a new car and have a great 2004 to trade in. I like to trade just so I don’t have to go through the hassle of selling it myself.

So Edmund’s says $18,000 for “trade-in” value of my car but the Toyota dealer says $15,000 for “auction value” is all they’ll give “because they lose money” paying “trade-in” value. Also, they’re not getting close to cutting enough on the new car…according to Edmund’s (and Kelly is close), these guys would make $3K on the trade for my old car plus $2,800 for the new car for a profit of $5,800!!! Usually, I get a new car for $300-500 profit for the whole deal–I figure the dealer can’t stay in business for zero profit but I don’t like to get clobbered either.

Well I walked after seeing the sales manager–I said there wasn’t any basis for discussion–also told them that lots of Toyota dealers out there. They’ve been calling me every other day since then.

So has anyone heard of this “auction” value? I don’t think its legitimate.

A: Ok, this is a typical Toyota dealer tactic. I believe what they meant by “auction” value is actually referred to as “wholesale” value. Toyota dealers have been getting very edgy with the public lately because they can (everyone wants a Corolla, Camry or Prius apparently). They understand that they will sell vehicles, if not to you, to someone else. This gives them the confidence to hammer the value of your trade, and still get you to buy a car. The only way to fight this is to aggressively cut their asking price of the vehicle you want. That way, it’s aleast a 50/50 battle. Good Luck and try another brand.

Q: Wanted to buy but was told I could only lease.?
I was quoted a price by phone then the price breakdown was sent by email. I was pre-qualified through Toyota. The salesman checked it out and verifying I was approved for the car. I went to buy the car. When I got there I was told again I qualified. He went through a lease vs buy discussion whereas he told me he was required to by Toyota After that I still wanted to buy. He comes back & tells me he misfigured and that I fell $50 a month short. Like a dumb “A” I went with the lease. But on the papers was being charged $2000 more than what he quoted. I was told the DVD/Nav was the difference. I told them that was included in the original quote. Heres the catch, the dvd/Nav isn’t installed in the car. They told me they would install later in the week AFTER THEY ORDER IT!! I figured out on paper the DVD/nav they were suppodly throwing in and now charging me for was the very thing that put me over! Is there any recourse for me? Any Suggestions? Its been less than 24 hrs and I am sick!
I pretty much figured I was sunk here. They kept me there 2 hours after closing. Man I knew better but I didnt catch it in time. The email with the price quote would not help with this matter? If I contacted Toyota explaining the situation if that would help. I cant believe I let them tell me I didnt qulify. After all, how did I qualify for the Lease but not the loan to buy? Dang I feel really stupid right now.
So because I did not catch the price change in time I have no recourse even if I reject the dvd/nav?

A: If you have taken delivery of the vehicle there isn’t much that can be done. If you haven’t you may have a chance of getting out of the deal. Either way, I would contact the Attorney General of your state and explain what happened. You may not get any satisfaction but it may help others who go there to buy. A note to FOREVER, there is NO 3 day return policy.

Q: Is this true?
I dont honestly know
But just in case it is, What is wrong here, Personally I have no problem with ford going down the gurgler

A Japanese company ( Toyota ) and an American company (Ford Motors) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 7 people steering and 2 people rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order; American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team’s management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 2 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 2 people rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the ‘Rowing Team Quality First Program,’ with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rowers. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses. The pension program was trimmed to ‘equal the competition’ and some of the resultant savings were channeled into morale boosting programs and teamwork posters.
The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid-off one rower, halted development of a new canoe, sold all the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses.

The next year, try as he might, the lone designated rower was unable to even finish the race (having no paddles,) so he was laid off for unacceptable performance, all canoe equipment was sold and the next year’s racing team was out-sourced to India .

Sadly, the End.

Here’s something else to think about: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US , claiming they can’t make money paying American wages.

TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US . The last quarter’s results:

TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.

Ford folks are still scratching their heads, and collecting bonuses.

IF THIS WEREN’T SO TRUE IT MIGHT BE FUNNY
Yep I am very patriotic, BUT I am not an American
Mrs H
As usual an intelligent, real life answer

A: From a patriotic American (ME!)
You got it right as usual, I have said this same thing all my working life, and it is hard to tell if this was supposed to be a funny, or just a very honest statement, so sad for for us working people. and gets even worse for us when all the “pol-cor” garbage gets thrown into the mix!
The company I work for is going through some of the same, but hopefully they’ll get their heads out of each others @sses before it goes under!
I gonna go for a ride in my old mustang and listen to some good ol classic rock and be happy being a nobody!

Q: How is this story i’m writing?
I wrote this using the thesaurus in some places:
The wind rushed past the Toyota Rav-4 as it curved around the tight edge.
Another Toyota Rav-4 was trailing behind, struggling just as much to climb the rutted hill. Toyota number 1 shifted into the fastest gear and sped up the mountain, before spinning out of control.
It took off into the railing but bounced off and into the rocky wall on the right hand side. Toyota 2 scarcely missed the wild car there was a loud THUD, and first car collided into the railing for a second time, but this time breaking through it.
The second car came to a halt and Reggie and Ziva climbed out of the Toyota and strode towards the broken railing. They looked over the edge to see, hundreds of metres down, a valley with a car lodged in between the stony walls.
“So sad, it was such a pretty car.” Reggie uttered.
“Well, Mr. Connor won’t be happy,” Ziva sighed.
“Why won’t he be? Jasper Scythe is dead and his three buds, isn’t that what he wanted?” Reggie asked, obviously confused.
“How did you even get into the IF, send in a box of chocolates!?” queried Ziva in an annoyed tone.
“No, that was after they accepted me,” Reggie grinned.
“Ugh! To answer your question and finish this discussion, Jasper has more than three buds and that is why the International Investigative Force is trying to catch Jasper, normal police are too dumb and Jasper is too strong. He has people all over the world! You know, that probably wasn’t even him in the car!

Sometimes when i read a book and there is something like a car chase they make it soo interesting i HAVE to keep on reading it because it is so intense. How can i make that with my car chase?

btw i am eleven years old.
thanks alot creepy….reeeeally appreciate it im only 11 give me a d.a.m.n break!
this is more i have added
“Okay, okay sister, just take deep breaths…deep breaths…”
“Shut up Reggie, I am not your sister we are just partners that are put together to fight crime! When will you grow up?” growled Ziva. Reggie shut his mouth, offended by Ziva’s remark.
“Let’s go, Reggie.”
“I am not going in that car if that’s what you mean!”
“Well why not?”
“Look at the wheel, Ziva.” said Reggie turning his back on her and heading down the winding road. Ziva frowned and turned to face the car. The first tire on the right was flat; a hole was punctured in it.
“Oh, and Ziva you should probably take off the number plate, y’know for safety reasons.” Reggie pointed out. Ziva sighed; she hated to be ordered around especially by Reggie, but most of all when he was right.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Mr. Connor lifted Maggie, his grandchild into the air and swung her around like a helicopter. She laughed with delight and poked her tongue out. Mr. Connor placed her back on
each start lifts up from the one before so where i ended in my real answer, keeps going on the next one.

“Sir, there is a call for you on line 1.” Mr. Connor’s assistant, Candy Sulvan told him. She had a clear face but red cheeks and a striped pink silk dress with a red belt at the waist. She had long skinny legs and red high heels which matched her belt and bow in her thick brown hair that swayed at her shoulders.
“Hello?” Mr. Connor said into the phone.
“Yes, I do Ziva carry on.” Mr. Connor’s face turned into a startled expression.
“He did WHAT!? Did you go see if he was okay? I agree I want you and Reggie to try and find him. Then go look for a member of his gang. Oh, right yes one moment,” Mr. Connor placed the phone onto the table next to Maggie.
“Candy! I’m booked on Tuesday.” He called out.
“But you have a meeting with-”
“Move it!” Mr. Connor interrupted. He picked up the phone again to continue the conversation.
“Ok, it’s all booked Ziva. Come on Tuesday but meanwhile just
just retrace your steps, okay? Ziva everything okay? Hello?” Mr. Connor slammed the phone down.
“She has NO right to hang up on me!” He yelled.
“Is everything alright? I brought in some biscuits and coffee, would some?”
“Yes, please Candy. I’m sorry for my arrogance.” He shoved his towards the biscuits and coffee.
“Me have some?” asked Maggie in a light voice. Mr. Connor smiled and gave her a biscuit.
“Almost forgot you were there.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Ziva, why did this have to be my first assignment? It could get me killed! I have only been here for a month and already I am dealing with Jasper Scythe!” Reggie fussed.
“‘Jeez, Reggie I feel so sorry for you’ is that what you want me to say? Well I’m not going to because like I explained before, police are too dumb to go on our type of missions, that’s why we do it, so when a new kid comes in, we’re not going to go and leave a national threat to do what they want while we investigate a robbery!”
“Right now I
“Right now I understand. Thanks. Let’s start running again.”
“Wait, Reggie!” yelled Ziva.
“What?”
“I’m calling Mr. Connor to explain what’s happening.”
“Okay, I’m going to go buy a pie.”
“I told you not to bring any money!” Ziva demanded but Reggie was already gone. She sighed and decided that she would never be able to control him.
Ziva typed in the numbers for the head-quarters; meanwhile Reggie was in the petrol station. The partners were at a town an hour away from the cliff. It was called Mealo Shadow.
The trees there were ancient and had crumbly brown leaves, strewn across the town. There was a junction and here and there would be a shop. They were scattered everywhere.
It used to be a nice town called Meadow Shade but there was a terrible fire that burned down lots of the shops, and only few remained. It was an eerie town
“Yeh, could I have the meat pie please?”
“Of course you can, sir.” A man in his forties said. He was tan and had jet black hair but was dressed in casual
clothes.
“Excuse me you’re not supposed to be here,” another guy behind the desk said to the person serving Reggie.

A: WOW! good job. I like your writing style. the only advice i have to give you is maybe you should make the two cars different types because it is kinda annoying if you keep going like toyota 1 and 2
other than that good job! keep writing

Q: A friend sent this. What do you think? I thought it was sad but true.?
A Modern Parable

Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team’s management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the ‘Rowing Team Quality First Program,’ with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year’s racing team was out-sourced to India.

Sadly, The End.

Here’s something else to think about: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can’t make money paying American wages.

TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US. The last quarter’s results:

TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.

Ford folks are still scratching their heads.

IF THIS WASN’T SO TRUE IT MIGHT BE FUNNY

A: Well, no wonder they live longer and healthier…they have a wisdome that comes from thousands of years…the lesson is quite simple: keep it simple.

I can’t believe so many people didn’t get the point of the story…no wonder we – the occidental people – are where we are…

Q: Bail out , when and where does it stop! ?
A Modern Parable.

The pension program was trimmed to ‘equal the competition’ and some of the resultant savings were channelled into morale boosting programs and teamwork posters.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid-off one rower, halted development of a new canoe, sold all the paddles, and cancelled all capital investments for new equipment.

A: After the 2010 Congressional Elections when the Republican majority is sworn in.

Q: Anyone Fancy driving overland from Ireland/uk to Austrailia?
Hey,

Looking someone to share the expense and the time to Drive to OZ. The plan is to take off in a Toyota Landcruiser 4×4 around August or October next year.

The route will consist of the following:

France – Germany – Czech Republic – Slovakia – Hungry – Romania – Bulgaria – Turkey – Georgia – Krygastan – Azerbajin – Turkministan – Kazachstan – China – laois – Vietnam – Thailand – Malaysia and ship car to Austrailia.

It’s a journey of a lifetime however there are some large costs assocaited with it, including kitting out the 4×4, feul and accomadation amonst other things.

To cut down on ur costs, I will be paying for the landcruiser (But not modifications) and to cut down on hassle i have already done alot of the prelimanry planning such as budget, maps, visa research and much more.

All of the above such as time of departure, route, and all aspects of the trip are negotiable and open for discussion as this is going to be a team effort.

The trip will need to be approx 4/5 months and longer depending on the route and chill time. Accomadation will be a mix of tents and hostels / hotels.

The ideal person must be open minded and eager to experience new cultures with a real sense of adventure

The problem is i need to source someone for the trip – Does anyone have any ideas how i can get th eword outthere and possibly get someone on board?

Q: mpg…Which is better, bigger truck with diesel or smaller with gas engine?
My wife and I are looking for a used truck to tow our boat around the area with, over dinner tonight we had a discussion about what kind of truck is best. We know that we need 7000lbs of towing with an extended cab and four wheel drive, we know what the products are for our choices but here is the situation. BTW we’re looking at the 2003 model year, anyway here is the question for all of you car people: Is it better to go with an F-250/ 2500HD with a diesel for mpg, or is it better to go with a F-150/ 1500 Silverado/ Tundra with a gas engine?

P.S. Engine size for gas would be Toyota: 4.7/ Chevy 5.3/ Ford 4.6/5.4
Engine size for diesel would be Chevy & ford small engine choices

A: 7000 lbs is about the upper limit for towing with a 1/2 ton pickup. Funny thing about boats, RVs and pretty much anything else you can tow behind a small truck… They never get lighter in weight, usually they gain weight as the owner adds just one more gizmo, or cooler full of adult beverage.

I’d recommend a 3/4 ton pickup with a diesel engine for better towing capacity and better overall fuel mileage.

Q: Would you buy an American car if you had no choice?
I was listening to the radio the other day. The discussion was how to help the economy. One said one way to do it was to buy cars made here. I was thinking most people buy Hondas and Toyotas, myself owning a Honda, a Toyota and a Volvo albiet used. The guy then said they should pass a law and/or constitutional amendment making as of XYZ date illegal to import, sell, buy or posess a car not made in this country, subject to fines and/or imprisonment. Those that own foreign cars before the law/amendment was passed can keep them so long as the owner can repair it but can’t sell it or trade it to anyone. Basically that would mean that if you want a new car or eventually a used one, you’ll have to buy American. Would anyone follow such a law if passed? Likelihood or unlikelihood of passage not withstanding? Opinions?

Thanks

A: As an American, I only buy vehicles made by American name plates, specifically, GM. I support my neighbors and friends who work there as well as companies that are based in the U.S. Do I hate that they import some parts for these vehicles, h**k yes!

Q: Should I Be Concerned About This Older Car?
My name is Bobby, and I’m A Sixteen year old male, who will be getting his “Driver’s License” sometime in the next month or so. I had a discussion with my mom, and she said I would inherit her old car; a 1993, “Camry” brand “Toyota”, brown car. I’m a smooth driver, and I’ve recieved excellent feedback from each of my parents, and my driving instructor, about how well I drive. I know just a little bit about cars, and how to maintain them, and what not, but I don’t know much more than the gripping on the tires, keeping the gas levels up, and not accidentally turning the key too far to the right (which I’ve kept doing by accident alot lately). Its an old car, and it had one previous owner; a man who, according to my mom “took excellent care of it”. It’s tires are getting flat, but my dad plans to replace them soon. I’m not sure what it is, but something about the age of this car makes me feel nervous, like maybe I should really be careful with it. Other than my unnerving feeling, I’v had a good driving experience with it so far, and my mom drives it to work everyday. Does anyone have information for taking care of older cars?
The car doesn’t have a CD player, just place to put tapes in, but other than that, the technology, and features are relatively old. I’m still REALLY excited about getting my first car, but still…
I was born on September 30, 1993 Incase You’re wondering. Also, does anyone know the driving laws in Colorado? Becuase that is where I live, and I’m not quite sure about all of the driving laws, how many teenagers I can have with me, and what other rules apply here.

A: the good thing about an older car being your first car is that you’ll have ample time to ‘bone up’ on care and maintenance. Your dad can probably give you the basics. But even if he doesn’t,you pick them up anyway. Because it is an older car, more things can go wrong with it. Not major things, but just things. For example, since it’s a older car, it might burn oil or use old more than a newer car. so after you’ve had one or two oil changes, and you watch the guy doing it, you learn to do it yourself. Thereby saving yourself some big bucks. And same with many other things. But I suspect that you’ll only have slightly minor ‘old-age’ problems because your mom uses the car with no problems. You having the car means that it will be used more so things might start to happen sooner. Just things, no great shakes. You’re nervous because you never had your own car. That’s normal. Good Luck.
